Machine Learning Engineering Manager

Reddit is a community of communities, built on shared interests and home to authentic conversations. The Conversion Modeling Team develops and maintains machine learning models that drive user conversions from Reddit Ads, focusing on predictive modeling for lower-funnel actions like purchase, signup, and add to cart. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead this team, defining vision, setting strategy, and executing a technical roadmap for conversion modeling.

• Lead a diverse, high-impact team, fostering collaboration with PM, DS, and engineering functions within Ads.
• Set technical vision and strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Define and execute a roadmap for conversion modeling, balancing innovation with business goals.
• Oversee the model development lifecycle from ideation to deployment, ensuring high standards of ML performance and robustness.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top ML talent.
• Partner with PMs, data scientists, and engineering teams to align on engagement strategies, data requirements, and model KPIs.
• Implement and optimize model architectures for conversion prediction using deep learning and advanced ML techniques.

• At least 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing machine learning teams, ideally in the Ads domain (tech lead experience considered).
• Deep hands-on experience with machine learning models and deploying them in large-scale production systems.
• Experience with Ads conversion modeling, ranking (heavy ranker experience), and recommendations is required.
• Strategic thinking and ability to communicate technical strategy.
• Impact-driven mindset and passion for scalable, responsible AI solutions.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Ads conversion modeling is a plus.

• Expertise in architecting and implementing deep learning models, with experience in ranking, recommendation, or conversion modeling.
• Proficiency with mainstream ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience in training, testing, and deploying production-grade machine learning models.
• Experience orchestrating large-scale data generation and processing pipelines.
• Understanding of interaction of ranking model with Ads systems like bidding, auction, retrieval.

Base salary range: $230,000—$322,000 USD. Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units, and possibly commission.
