About the job

Instacart is transforming the grocery industry through grocery delivery and household goods, offering flexible earnings opportunities to Personal Shoppers. The company operates as a Flex First team, giving employees flexibility in where they work while staying connected through regular in-person events.

This is the first role of its kind in Marketing, with a clear mandate: identify what's slow, manual, or broken across the Marketing organization and rebuild it AI-natively. The benchmark is transformation, not marginal improvement — building solutions that get shipped, adopted, and measured. The role also serves as connective tissue for Marketing's AI ambitions, convening AI goal owners, unblocking stuck work, and creating internal momentum.

What you'll do

  • Building (60%): Identify high-impact workflows, systems, and processes across Marketing that are slow, manual, or duct-taped together, and rebuild them AI-natively from the ground up. Own the full cycle: understand the current state, design, build, ship, then measure what changed. Early builds include recurring leadership and planning narratives (MBR, quarterly planning summaries, budget variance write-ups, channel performance narratives), an integrated campaign launch process, and a brief quality and standardization AI review layer. Build with portability in mind so others can adapt and extend solutions. Develop and maintain an intake framework to evaluate feasibility and impact and decide what gets built next.
  • Driving Adoption (20%): Own change management for every build, evangelize internally through write-ups and case studies, and create energy around AI across Marketing by showing what's possible.
  • Orchestration & Thought Partnership (20%): Lead the MarComms AI KR forum, convene AI KR owners, create momentum behind shared goals, surface blockers, and act as a working partner to AI goal owners — unblocking vendor delays and solving capability gaps.

Minimum qualifications

  • 7+ years in marketing operations, marketing strategy, or a closely adjacent discipline
  • Proven builder with a track record of shipping AI-powered workflows that demonstrably changed how teams work
  • Hands-on daily experience with frontier AI tools such as Claude, GPT-4o, or Gemini, including writing prompts that produce reliable, production-quality output at scale
  • Experience building agentic systems where AI components interact, including multi-agent design, orchestration layers, and workflows that run without a human in the loop at every step
  • Adoption-minded approach to building, strong communication skills for audiences from ICs to CMO-level leadership, and prioritization discipline

Preferred qualifications

  • A framework for evaluating AI vendors and tools quickly, including running comparison pilots and making principled decisions
