About the job

Asana is a leading platform for human + AI collaboration. We're looking for an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and operate services and frameworks that power Asana. This role is based in our Reykjavik office with an office-centric hybrid schedule (Mon, Tue, Thu in office).

What you'll achieve

  • Design, build, and iterate on frameworks that influence all aspects of the Asana product.
  • Partner with frameworks and product engineering teams to enable faster development.
  • Analyze complex systems to uncover issues and areas for improvement.
  • Champion code quality and best practices.
  • Develop new APIs that balance usability with capability.
  • Write clean, beautiful code.
  • Collaborate with a world-class engineering team.

About you

  • 3+ years of backend experience in large, well-maintained codebases.
  • Ability to learn quickly and transition between areas of a complex codebase.
  • Sound autonomous judgment balancing speed and quality.
  • Focus on establishing high-quality software engineering patterns.
  • Familiarity with React/GraphQL ecosystem, TypeScript (preferred).
  • Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.

Compensation

Estimated monthly base salary range: 1,000,000 - 1,200,000 ISK. Additional components may include equity and benefits.
