About the job

ClickHouse is a real-time analytics database company recognized on the 2025 Forbes Cloud 100 list, with over 4,000 customers and ARR growth over 250% year over year. The company leads the market in real-time analytics, data warehousing, observability, and AI workloads, and recently raised a $400M Series D.

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our Observability organization, working across the Observability Platform and Internal Observability teams. These teams build and operate systems that process trillions of events per day, sustaining throughput in the hundreds of millions of events per second.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate distributed systems for telemetry ingestion, durable buffering, processing, storage, autoscaling, and service provisioning. You will own reliability, performance, capacity, and cost-efficiency of telemetry pipelines, participate in on-call rotation, and turn recurring operational problems into durable software and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate distributed systems that ingest, process, and store telemetry at very high scale.
  • Own reliability, performance, capacity, and cost-efficiency of telemetry pipelines and storage systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, resolve production incidents, and drive root-cause fixes.
  • Build software and automation to eliminate repetitive operational work.
  • Identify architectural bottlenecks and shape the roadmap.
  • Work with product, infrastructure, and service teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience building and operating production systems at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Go.
  • Experience building and operating services on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps tooling such as Terraform, Helm, and Argo CD.
  • Production experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with telemetry systems such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or comparable technologies.
  • Bonus: Experience with ClickHouse, high-throughput ingestion, streaming, queueing, storage systems, multi-tenant cloud services, performance/cost optimization, and TypeScript.

Compensation

The typical starting salary for this role in the US is $141,000—$208,000 USD. In US Premium Markets (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metro Area), the range is $157,000—$230,000 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including education, qualifications, experience, skills, location, and performance.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment - remote-friendly, globally distributed company.
  • Healthcare - employer contributions towards healthcare.
  • Equity - stock options for every new team member.
  • Flexible time off in the US, generous entitlement in other countries.
  • $500 home office setup for remote employees.
  • Global Gatherings - company-wide offsites.

ClickHouse is an equal opportunity employer.
