About the role

Anthropic's Data Center team is responsible for delivering physical infrastructure to power large-scale AI training and serving. As a Data Center Electrical Engineer, you will lead the electrical design of facilities across the US portfolio, from utility service entrance to rack, developing reference designs and specifications for build partners, and driving prefabrication and modular construction strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design of critical data center equipment including utility interface, substation, medium/high-voltage infrastructure, generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, and grounding systems.
  • Develop and maintain electrical basis of design, reference architectures, and technical specifications for critical power distribution.
  • Perform engineering studies (short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, load flow, power quality) and use findings to steer design decisions.
  • Drive prefabricated and modular electrical strategy, including modular skids, e-houses, and prefabricated power assemblies.
  • Review and approve electrical design packages from build partners and MEP consultants.
  • Coordinate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with US codes and standards.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and field engineering across multiple geographies.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in mission-critical facilities, with substantial data center or high-availability electrical distribution design experience.
  • Deep familiarity with US electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, UL/ANSI).
  • Hands-on experience with prefabricated and modular data center electrical infrastructure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in power systems analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Strong knowledge of rack layout, structured cabling, power distribution, and cooling infrastructure.

Compensation

Annual salary range: $1—$2 USD (as listed in the posting).
