Anthropic is seeking an Incident Response Manager to serve as the operational backbone of how Anthropic handles incidents. This role involves building the incident response management function, serving as an on-call incident commander, owning incident communications, participating in blameless incident reviews, and partnering with engineering teams to develop policies and escalation frameworks.
Responsibilities include:
- Build the incident response management function, establishing processes, tooling, and operational standards.
- Serve as an on-call incident commander, driving coordinated response across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Engage the right people at the right time, bringing order to fast-moving situations.
- Own incident communications end-to-end, from internal coordination to external channels.
- Participate in blameless incident reviews and drive follow-through on remediations.
- Partner with engineering teams to develop and maintain incident response policies and escalation frameworks.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in incident management, with direct experience managing technical product or infrastructure incidents.
- Have built or significantly shaped an incident response program.
- Strong sense of ownership and urgency, ability to operate independently under pressure.
- Comfortable in unprecedented situations with incomplete guidance.
- Track record of effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Blameless, learning-oriented mindset.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure incidents and technical depth across the stack.
- Analytically minded, using data to inform decisions.
- Communicate clearly and calmly under pressure.
Compensation: Annual salary range $290,000—$365,000 USD.
Logistics: Minimum education Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Location-based hybrid policy: expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship is available.
