About the job
About the role
Chime's Financial Crimes team protects millions of members from money laundering, fraud, and organized networks. This is a senior individual contributor role: you will set the standard for financial crime work, define what good looks like, raise the ceiling for analysts, and own the hardest problems end to end.
What you will own
- Vendor management: lead and support a team of analysts; sample operations work, run calibration with partners, and hold quality and productivity expectations.
- Risk trend analysis: follow patterns of unusual activity across accounts, devices, funding sources, counterparties, and behavioral patterns; show network shape to non-investigators.
- Typology development: document new schemes, make them teachable, identify coverage gaps, and own creation of coverage with partners.
- Operational rollout of new coverage: design routing, procedure, evidence standard, and quality checks before alerts land.
- Procedures and documentation: own SOPs for your area, keeping them clear for third parties.
- Audit and exam readiness: prepare for internal audit, independent testing, and bank partner reviews; own remediation of findings.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in financial crime, fraud, or risk investigations at a bank, fintech, payments company, or comparable regulated environment.
- Working command of BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC requirements, and unusual/suspicious activity reporting standards.
- Deep experience across the transaction monitoring alert lifecycle at real volume.
- Real typology depth across money laundering and fraud (mule networks, first-party fraud, synthetic identity, scams, elder financial exploitation).
- Hands-on involvement in scenario tuning or threshold work.
- Experience overseeing vendor or outsourced investigation teams.
- Advanced SQL and fluency with graph or link analysis tooling.
- CAMS, CFE, or equivalent certification preferred.
