Lead Data Scientist, Product

Descript is building a simple, intuitive, fully-powered editing tool for video and audio, powered by AI. We are a team of 150 with backing from OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures, and Spark Capital. We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist, Product to shape our growth strategy, up-level experimentation culture, and scale our business.

• Conduct in-depth analysis to shape product PLG motion and B2B strategy.
• Develop deep understanding of the product ecosystem and identify opportunities for activation, engagement, and monetization.
• Leverage AI tools to build and maintain self-service analytics for stakeholders.
• Improve execution rigor by owning success metrics and opportunity sizing.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on experiment design, deployment, and analysis.
• Evolve experimentation culture and practices.

• 5–8 years of experience in a Data Scientist or similar role.
• 3+ years working in a growth function.
• Strong business and product intuition.
• Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and A/B tests.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or R.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience at a fast-growing startup is a plus.

Base salary range $200,000 - $250,000/year.
