About the Role
Instacart is seeking a Legislative Counsel to join its Legislative and Labor Team. This role focuses on analyzing emerging legislative and regulatory requirements, building compliance frameworks, and shaping the regulatory conversation around gig economy platforms, marketplace operators, and labor practices. The counsel will coordinate cross-functional regulatory responses, review legislation impacting gig economy participants, develop legal frameworks, manage external counsel relationships, and build expertise in emerging legal areas.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- 3+ years of experience practicing law
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, analyze, and provide precise legal advice in response to legislative updates
- Experience working with legislative bodies, government agencies, or regulatory matters
- Proven success in supporting compliance initiatives and executing legal frameworks
- Understanding of legislative processes and the regulatory landscape
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with legislative or regulatory strategy
- Familiarity with issues facing marketplace platform companies, gig economy platform companies, or similarly highly regulated businesses
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range for Canadian candidates: CAN$185,000—$195,000 CAD. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants. Instacart provides market-competitive compensation and benefits.
