Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Model Platform)

Perplexity AI is a company building AI-powered products for research, shopping, investing, and curiosity. In 2026, they launched Computer, a product for agentic AI. They aim to transform knowledge into action using AI.

Perplexity is looking for a deeply technical software engineer to own and evolve their model serving platform, which connects products and research systems with inference layers. This mission-critical system provides a fast, reliable interface across providers. The role involves working at the intersection of distributed systems, AI products, and infrastructure, making it easier for teams to adopt new models, run experiments, and ship dependable products. The ideal candidate combines sound technical judgment with curiosity about frontier models. Responsibilities include designing core abstractions, leading technical decisions, and writing production Rust and Python for a service handling hundreds of millions of model requests per day.

• 5+ years of experience building and shipping large-scale systems and services with high reliability, availability, and performance.
• Strong software engineering craft, with care for developer experience and designing future-proof systems.
• Proficiency with a general-purpose backend language (Python, Rust, C++, Go) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes).
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields (or equivalent experience).

Salary range: $220K – $405K. Offers equity.
