About the role
Twilio is seeking a Presales Architect to join the Twilio.org team, enabling public sector, healthcare, non-profit, and NGO customers to build the future of communications. This role is critical to the sales team, delivering the Technical Win and best Product Fit to customers. You will lead the technical pre-sales relationship, drive technical discovery, propose architectures, demonstrate products, anticipate concerns, and offer creative solutions. You will be a recognized pre-sales expert and technical influencer, running complex opportunities independently and mentoring peers.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives and Partner Account Managers to execute pre-sales activities including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, Proof-of-Concept, RFP, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
- Help customers achieve success by leading the technical and product sale, recommending best-practice solutions, and guiding them on how to use Twilio’s APIs.
- Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to customers’ senior leadership teams by understanding technical pains through discovery and designing, demonstrating, and presenting innovative solutions.
- Build and present highly interactive, complex, and engaging customer product demonstrations showcasing Twilio’s Communications Products.
- Proactively identify team or organizational needs, document them, evaluate criticality, and propose strategies to implement solutions.
- Contribute to the broader Twilio Presales Engineering community through knowledge sharing, constructing demonstration materials, and creating reusable presentations.
- Mentor less experienced Presales Engineers and act as a facilitator or team leader.
- Present at Twilio-sponsored, industry, and internal events.
Qualifications
Required
- 12+ years pre-sales experience selling complex technical products, or 12+ years of professional experience supporting technical products with customer-facing experience (delivery or consulting).
- Excellent communicator and presenter able to gain audience confidence and communicate ROI across use cases.
- Ability to build deep understanding of customer communications needs and guide them to technical solutions.
- Demonstrates exceptional technical proficiency and thought leadership.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate strategic vision and influence at all levels.
- Customer-focused problem solver balancing innovative solutions with customer interests.
- Previous software development experience or working knowledge in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud application architecture, Telecom, SIP, Contact Center, or Security.
- Experience with sales methodologies.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience working with partners (channel, SI, ISV, etc.).
- Proven experience integrating modern AI productivity tools (e.g., LLMs, technical writing assistants, AI-driven demo platforms) into daily workflow.
Desired
- Experience managing strategic accounts and evangelizing new use cases in the public sector vertical.
- Experience in Social Impact, Healthcare, Public Sector verticals.
- Demonstrated personal interest in the social impact sector.
Location and Travel
This role is remote, but not eligible to be hired in CT, NJ, NY, WA, PA, or the surrounding areas of San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, or San Jose, CA. Approximately 25% travel is anticipated.
Compensation and Benefits
Estimated pay ranges (for candidates hired in CA, CO, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NJ, NY, VT, WA, or DC):
- Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington D.C.: $163,640 - $204,550
- New York, New Jersey, Washington State, California (outside SF Bay area): $172,736 - $215,920
- San Francisco Bay area, California: $181,824 - $227,280
This role may be eligible for Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles generally eligible for: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
