Role Summary
Lyft is seeking a Design Systems Manager to join Design Foundations, the infrastructure layer of Lyft's design organization. This role owns the craft and execution of the Lyft Product Language (LPL) design system, spanning product, marketing, and brand surfaces. The manager will lead a team of design systems designers and illustrators, partner with engineering and marketing, and drive the AI transformation of the system.
Responsibilities
- Set the strategy and roadmap for LPL across product, marketing, and brand surfaces.
- Lead AI integration into LPL tooling, adoption workflows, and designer experience.
- Represent Design Systems in senior leadership forums.
- Manage and develop a team of design systems designers and illustrators.
- Maintain quality bar for cross-platform coherence, accessibility (WCAG), road safety, localization, and brand consistency.
- Partner with DPM and engineering managers to maintain system health and sequence work.
- Own the LPL component contribution and review process end-to-end.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in product or brand design, including 2+ years managing designers.
- Direct experience leading a design system at scale.
- Fluency across mobile and web platforms.
- Experience managing a design systems team.
- Strong partnership with engineering on architecture, releases, and quality.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tooling (Figma MCP, generative workflows, agentic prototyping) is a plus.
- Excellent written communication and async-friendly.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range: CAD $172,000 - CAD $215,000 (not inclusive of equity, bonus, or benefits). Work Arrangement
Hybrid role based in Toronto, Canada. Expected in-office at least 3 days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). Flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
