About the Role
As a Regional Research Economist at Anthropic, you will collaborate with governments, academia, industry, and civil society to measure and understand AI's effects on the economy. You will contribute to the Anthropic Economic Index, develop methodologies to measure AI usage and impact, and use frontier methods in econometrics, machine learning, and structural estimation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with academic institutions, policy think tanks, and research partners.
- Advance research collaborations on country- or regional-specific economic impact questions.
- Translate research insights into actionable policy recommendations.
- Contribute to the Anthropic Economic Index and its regional analysis.
- Design empirical research on AI's economic effects with partners.
- Develop new methodologies for studying AI's impact on labor markets, productivity, inequality, and industry disruption.
- Work cross-functionally to improve measurement infrastructure.
- Amplify external engagement through publications and presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Economics.
- Strong empirical research track record, including causal inference and machine learning.
- Experience and relationships in the region.
- Relevant experience in labor market analysis, task-based approaches, large-scale data analysis, LLMs for social science, policy research, experimental methods, macroeconomic modeling, and agent-based modeling.
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar tools.
- Ability to lead complex research projects and communicate findings.
Compensation
Annual salary: £195,000—£245,000 GBP.
