Senior Backend Engineer

The Compliance Engineering team prepares Reddit's platforms for evolving regulatory requirements, building products that establish trust while partnering with teams across the company. Engineers thrive in dynamic, ambiguous problem spaces and work across multiple domains and technology stacks.

• Own product areas and shape strategy end-to-end: from technical design and coding to testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives critical to Reddit's business and platform integrity.
• Raise the bar for engineering by improving workflows, setting standards, and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

• 5+ years backend development experience with multiple parts of the backend stack, from databases to networking to efficient computing.
• Experience as a tech lead on projects and teams with 3+ backend engineers.
• Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems operating under high load.
• Self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively in a fully-remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers, owning team processes, and leading cross-functional projects is preferred.

Base salary range: $190,800—$267,100 USD. Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units, and possibly commission. U.S.-based employees receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with employer match, generous time off, and parental leave.
