Reddit is a community of communities, home to 100,000+ active communities and ~130 million daily active unique visitors. The Safety and Moderation organization builds tools that help moderators keep Reddit safe, healthy, and scalable. We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands-on experience in modern enterprise engineering languages to ship high-impact features for moderators. You will work closely with frontend and mobile engineers, product, and design partners.
Responsibilities
- Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to execute on product and business strategy.
- Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Review code and design docs, give feedback on product specs and mocks.
- Lead a team of engineers, set standards for developer workflows, and mentor team members.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8 years of software development experience in Go, Python, Rust, or Ruby.
- Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, Thrift, or gRPC and designing maintainable APIs.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, self-directed, and biased towards action.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment.
Compensation: Base salary range $190,800—$267,100 USD, plus equity and benefits including healthcare, 401(k) match, flexible vacation, and parental leave.
Location: Remote friendly within the United States.
