Senior Manager, Machine Learning Engineering - Communication & Connectivity

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Machine Learning Engineering team within the Communication and Connectivity group. This team focuses on ML, data, and AI applications for tools used by millions of guests and hosts, including Messaging, push notifications, and integrations with operating system features. The role involves driving alignment on AI investment priorities, setting multi-year technical roadmaps, and partnering with Product, Design, and Data Science to bring ML initiatives from concept to production.

• Drive alignment across engineering, product, and leadership on AI investment priorities and set the multi-year technical roadmap.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Data Science to take high-impact ML initiatives from concept to production.
• Ensure high-quality, efficient data pipelines that support both business and AI needs.
• Define and own success metrics that tie ML work directly to business outcomes.
• Grow and mentor a team of ML/Data engineers, raising the technical bar across the org.
• Lead and mentor a senior team of Managers and Engineers across Machine Learning, Data Engineering, and Software Engineering.
• Coach and develop team members, helping them grow their careers, technical expertise, and collaboration skills.

• 12+ years of overall engineering experience with 5+ years managing a team in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale.
• Experience applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles.
• Technical leadership: hands-on experience leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross-functionally with Product and Data Science teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

The base pay range for this role is $248,000—$310,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
