Role Overview
As a Senior Resident Architect, you will be among our most senior technical field engineers, serving as a critical escalation point for our biggest and thorniest technical challenges. You will lead customers in the strategic application of Honeycomb and observability practices, act as a trusted advisor on telemetry schema design, and become a subject-matter expert in sampling and Refinery operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead customers in strategic application of Honeycomb and observability practices to meet technical and business goals.
- Partner with Customer Success Managers and Account Executives to articulate value proposition at executive and technical levels.
- Advise on telemetry schema design, data modeling, and sampling strategies.
- Teach, coach, and mentor engineering teams in observability, SRE concepts, and instrumentation best practices.
- Create high-quality reusable content including trainings, talks, blog posts, and reference architectures.
- Represent the voice of the customer in internal meetings with Engineering and Product Management.
Qualifications
- Deep understanding of OpenTelemetry and its ecosystem.
- Strong intuition for telemetry data modeling and cardinality.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm), and CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions).
- Previous experience in software development or system operations, with preference for distributed systems at scale.
- Fluency in at least one of: Ruby, Python, Go, JavaScript, Java, or .NET.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
Compensation
On Target Earnings (OTE) based on level of experience (Base + Commission): $155,000—$185,000 USD.
