Senior Risk & Compliance Engineer - Data

Instacart is a grocery delivery platform that connects customers with personal shoppers. The company operates a Flex First work model, allowing employees to choose where they work.

The Senior Risk & Compliance Engineer will join the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team to build an automated, engineering-grade risk program. This role involves writing production-level code, building signal ingestion pipelines, and developing probabilistic risk models to quantify security exposure.

• Build automated signal ingestion pipelines that normalize and score security findings.
• Develop probabilistic risk models to express security exposure as probability distributions.
• Identify systemic choke points and prioritize remediation paths.
• Build dashboards and data-driven insights for stakeholders.
• Support risk quantification in financial terms.

Minimum: 5+ years in data engineering with production-level Python and SQL (PostgreSQL, Presto, or SparkSQL); 3+ years building and deploying ML or probabilistic models; experience with real-time data pipelines; data modeling for classification and risk detection.

Preferred: Familiarity with security risk concepts (EPSS, CISA KEV), quantitative risk frameworks (FAIR), security frameworks (NIST CSF, SOC 2), and executive communication.

Base pay ranges vary by location: CA/NY/CT/NJ $188,000-$230,000; WA $178,000-$220,500; OR/DE/ME/MA/MD/NH/RI/VT/DC/PA/VA/CO/TX/IL/HI $171,000-$211,000; all other states $156,000-$192,000. Eligible for equity grants.
