Senior Software Engineer

The Shopper Data Platform team is responsible for ingesting, processing, and serving millions of user data points daily. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and evolve high-scale systems that serve as the single source of truth for user profiles, powering core products, advanced segmentation, personalization, and machine learning capabilities. You will own complex technical problems across the data platform, partnering with engineering, product, data, and ML teams.

• Design, build, and evolve high-scale backend systems for ingestion, processing, storage, and serving of Shopper Data Platform attributes.
• Own complex engineering projects end-to-end, from design through production operation.
• Develop and improve APIs, streaming pipelines, and platform capabilities for user-profile data.
• Improve scalability, reliability, data quality, observability, and performance of systems processing large volumes of user and event data.
• Partner with product, data, and ML teams to deliver user attributes and data capabilities supporting segmentation, personalization, revenue attribution, behavioral analytics, and machine learning.
• Contribute to technical design and engineering standards through design reviews, architectural decisions, mentorship, and hands-on development.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with experience designing and operating backend or distributed systems at scale.
• Strong experience with data ingestion, processing, and streaming architectures, including systems handling large volumes of high-cardinality data.
• Strong programming and software-design skills in Java or similar backend languages, with a solid understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, performance, and observability.
• A track record of owning complex technical projects end-to-end.
• Strong problem-solving and technical judgment, with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs and build pragmatic solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across teams and mentoring other engineers.

For US-based applicants, the base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000 - $205,000 annually + equity + benefits. Attentive offers competitive perks and benefits, from health & wellness to equity.
