Instacart is transforming the grocery industry. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Ads team. You will help build world-class reporting solutions across various platforms, ensuring advertisers and retailers receive timely, accurate, and actionable data insights. You will work closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Machine Learning Engineers. The Ads team is responsible for refining our Ads products and supporting infrastructure, processing petabyte-scale data and delivering reports for billing, strategic decision-making, and partner management.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the vision, strategy, and development of our multi-platform reporting system.
- Advocate for data quality, correctness, scalability, and latency standards.
- Spearhead new initiatives, code and document components, write and review system design documents.
- Partner with other teams to gather and understand customer requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience (4+ years).
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of distributed systems, experience with data processing technologies such as DBT and Airflow, and web frameworks such as Rails.
- Highly proficient with SQL.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in digital advertising.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Flink, Hive, or Kafka.
- Proven experience with distributed system design.
Compensation
For Canadian candidates, base pay range is CAN$168,000—$177,500. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
This role is remote and only hiring in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
