Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Batch Infra team provides reliable, scalable, self-serve compute solutions for ML, Product, and Financial Engineering.

What you'll do

  • Own and deliver quarterly goals, lead engineers through ambiguity, and ensure support throughout delivery.
  • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on technical constraints and trade-offs.
  • Identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues.
  • Support operations and availability of team artifacts, including metrics and on-call efforts.
  • Foster a culture of quality and ownership through code review and design standards.
  • Develop talent by providing feedback and guidance.

What we look for

  • 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
  • Experience with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi.
  • Experience scaling frameworks like Spark/Flink for large-scale datasets on Kubernetes.
  • Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, extensible design.
  • Strong communication skills for global collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range: $153,000 - $213,000 CAD. Total compensation may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits including 100% subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents. Also includes flexible spending wallets, time off, and ESPP.

Location

Remote role open only to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
