About the job
About the Role
Affirm's Marketing & Privacy Engineering (MPE) team builds trusted, privacy-aware consumer web experiences and measurement systems that enable sustainable growth. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build the data and measurement foundations that connect consumer acquisition activity across paid media, SEO/AEO, and other growth channels to downstream outcomes such as signup, conversion, and GMV. You will work at the intersection of data engineering and marketing technology, building reliable pipelines, identity and event data systems, attribution and conversion measurement, and integrations across our marketing and data ecosystems. You will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Data Engineering so that consent, tagging, identity, and consumer-data requirements are incorporated into measurement architecture from the start.
What You'll Do
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics in the product development lifecycle, articulating technical constraints and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
- Proactively identify project, process, technology, or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
- Support the operations and availability of your team's artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them through writing and tech talks.
- Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
What We Look For
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
- Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience building marketing data and measurement systems using technologies such as Google Tag Manager (GTM/sGTM), GA4, advertising and conversion APIs, customer data platforms (CDPs), attribution or mobile measurement platforms, and consent management platforms.
- Experience building production data pipelines and analytical models using technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow, including event-level data, identity resolution, attribution, or conversion measurement.
- Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
