About the Role
Verkada is seeking a seasoned Systems level Linux engineer / Linux internals expert to build the next generation of command connector product that turns any legacy camera into a cloud-native, AI-searchable node. The role involves managing dozens of concurrent video streams, translating disparate camera protocols into a single unified pipeline, and feeding all of it into CV models / inference run at the edge of the device. The product currently supports 100K+ customer cameras.
What You'll Do
- Reading kernel oops/panic traces
- Debugging GPU driver issues
- Working with boot/security subsystems like secure boot and luks disk encryption
- Networking internals (routing, firewalling, link-layer issues)
- RAID array management (mdadm, disk failure/rebuild scenarios)
What You Bring
- BS/MS in Computer Science (or similar degree)
- 5+ years of experience of software development for Linux in System Programming Languages (C, C++, Rust, Go, etc)
- Experience in embedded development or experience with low-level system software development
- Good knowledge with operating systems and computer architecture
- Good communication & documentation skills
- Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week

Annual Pay Range
Estimated Annual Pay Range: $200,000—$300,000 USD
