Senior Software Engineer, Core Platform

Reddit is a community of communities, built on shared interests, passion, and trust, with 100,000+ active communities and approximately 130 million daily active unique visitors. The Core Platform team facilitates millions of API requests running the Core API Platform for Reddit, responsible for the APIs that build listings, enabling posts, comments, media, and more.

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Platform team, you will be a technical coach and mentor, ensuring high uptime and strong performance of these systems while building a roadmap to match the needs of a growing engineering organization. You will work with teammates to build and scale a media platform that will fuel Reddit's next wave of growth.

• Develop and design new and innovative solutions to scaling Reddit
• Build platform API projects that scale to the rest of the organization
• Mentor and coach more junior engineers on your direct team
• Build, deliver, and operate services that scale to hundreds of thousands of transactions per second at 5+ 9's of availability
• Help optimize Reddit's media experience for hundreds of millions of users

• Software development experience in Golang or Python
• 5+ years of experience with large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems
• Excellent communication skills, partnering effectively with teams in a fully remote environment
• Familiarity with API platform service architectures
• History of building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Media delivery expertise from back end systems to the user
• Experience optimizing media performance, scalability, and delivery

Base salary range: $190,800—$267,100 USD. This role is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units, and possibly commission.
