Senior Software Engineer, Identity

Attentive is the AI marketing platform for 1:1 personalization, unifying SMS, RCS, email, and push notifications. The Identity team owns Attentive's first-party data collection platform: the systems that capture ecommerce and user behavior events from customer storefronts, spanning a JavaScript tag embedded on thousands of sites, Cloudflare Workers for server-side tracking and edge compute, and backend ingestion services. This is a small team (3-4 engineers) with high autonomy and broad ownership.

• Own data collection across the full stack: the JS tag, Cloudflare Workers, and Java backend services.
• Expand edge compute with Cloudflare Workers into tag serving, A/B configuration, and compute for agentic systems and data analysis.
• Build agentic AI systems for data collection quality, using heuristics and ML models to identify and fix gaps automatically.
• Improve the event ingestion pipeline for reliability and observability.
• Help lead technical direction on a small, autonomous team: write proposals, run design reviews, and mentor teammates.

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience across multiple layers of a system.
• Backend experience building and operating services in Java, Kotlin, or a similar typed language, including API design, data modeling, and testing.
• Comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript, including browser runtime behavior, async patterns, and performance in production.
• Experience with edge compute or serverless runtimes (Cloudflare Workers, Lambda@Edge, Fastly) or the ability to ramp quickly.
• Led projects from scoping through shipping; good debugging instincts across service boundaries.
• Active use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar) in day-to-day workflow.

Java / Kotlin / Spring Boot microservices with Gradle, DynamoDB, Aurora, Airflow, Postgres, and Redis on AWS; Kubernetes (EKS) with Istio, Datadog, Terraform, Cloudflare, and Helm; React and TypeScript frontend with GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright; Python, Metaflow, HuggingFace, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas for ML.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000 - $205,000 annually + equity + benefits.
