Role Overview
The Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team within Instacart's Marketing organization builds the systems, APIs, and data pipelines powering Paid Marketing channels. This role provides technical leadership for the Paid MarTech pod, driving the technical roadmap, architectural decisions, and team productivity improvements.
Responsibilities
- Drive the team's technical roadmap and architectural decisions, balancing short and long-term investments to build reusable, scalable systems.
- Enhance developer productivity by evolving processes, tools, and abstractions.
- Lead team-wide initiatives and partner with senior Product and Marketing leaders on strategic decisions.
- Champion observability, resilience (including chaos engineering and disaster recovery), cost optimization, and security-by-design.
- Mentor engineers up to L5 and resolve cross-team conflicts.
Qualifications
Minimum
- 8–12 years of software engineering experience with technical leadership and architectural decision-making.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python.
- Deep knowledge of building scalable, high-throughput systems with observability, cost efficiency, and security.
- Ability to partner with senior leaders and influence product roadmap.
- Proven track record of enhancing team productivity and mentoring senior engineers.
Preferred
- Experience with AI-assisted development tooling and best practices.
- Deep expertise in ad tech platforms and marketing technology ecosystems.
- Track record of legacy system modernization and technical debt management.
- Experience establishing coding standards and technical review processes.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range: CAN$196,000—$207,000 CAD. Eligible for new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants. Additional benefits are offered.
Location
Remote in Canada, with hiring limited to Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
