Senior Software Engineer - Quicksilver - Distributed Key Value

Quicksilver is Cloudflare's globally distributed key-value store, replicating data across tens of thousands of servers and over 500 data centers, serving billions of keys per second. The role involves owning the whole stack: code, tests, deployment, operations, monitoring, debugging, and on-call. Quicksilver is written in Go and C.

• Write new features in Go and review pull requests
• Improve performance, CPU, memory usage
• Improve monitoring and tools, all written in Go
• Help with debugging and investigating hard-to-reproduce problems

• Previous experience writing robust systems, code quality, performance, and technical debt
• Proven experience with storage systems, peer-to-peer systems, large-scale distributed systems, or system programming
• Experience chasing problems through multiple layers of the software stack
• Flexible, autonomous, pragmatic, and value simple solutions
• Enjoy low-level and high-level programming
• Team player who gives and takes constructive criticism
• Willingness to engage in outages during anti-social hours

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. For Denver based hires: estimated annual salary of $168,000 ~ $210,000. For Washington D.C., New York, and Seattle based hires: estimated annual salary of $185,000 ~ $231,000. This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
