Senior Software Engineer – Storage Systems

The Storage team owns the distributed infrastructure that transforms every Verkada camera into an intelligent, self-contained recording device, focusing on edge storage reliability, endurance, and security. This role requires onsite presence at HQ in San Mateo, CA.

• Own the camera storage stack for storing large AI models and video files while maximizing utilization and reliability.
• Collaborate with the Hardware team and external vendors to define next-generation flash storage systems.
• Design storage systems optimizing hardware cost, endurance, and throughput.
• Own storage reliability metrics and drive system improvements using data.
• Strategize with the Streaming team on video retention solutions.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or similar degree.
• Over 5 years of software development experience in C, with C++ or Go as an asset.
• Strong familiarity with low-level systems: file system layout, memory management, Yocto build system, device drivers, kernel debugging, eBPF, and MMC protocol.
• Backend experience in distributed systems, containerization, and microservices (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Estimated annual pay range: $130,000—$280,000 USD. Eligible for additional compensation including bonuses and equity (RSUs).
