Senior Software Engineer - Streaming Platform

The Streaming Platform Client team at Datadog owns the Rust client library (producers and consumers) with language bindings for Java, Go, and Python. This role focuses on building intuitive APIs and abstractions for a distributed system handling hundreds of millions of messages per second, with performance, observability, and reliability as top priorities. The team also develops and operates the service bridging the client fleet with the platform's control plane, addressing complex balancing, scaling, and static stability challenges.

• Work within a distributed, high-impact team spanning Europe and the US, building critical technologies that power data pipelines for dozens of internal teams and hundreds of services.
• Architect and implement resilient interactions between client libraries and the control plane.
• Optimize the high-throughput, low-level streaming library to push performance and efficiency boundaries.
• Champion developer experience through exceptional support, technical documentation, and proactive troubleshooting.
• Lead high-stakes technical projects with end-to-end accountability.
• Collaborate with partner teams on projects wider than the team's scope.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
