About the job
About the Role
Databricks is the Data and AI company. Our customers rely on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform for data engineering, ETL, streaming, machine learning, and analytics. As a Senior Solutions Architect (EDW Migrations), you will execute on Databricks' strategic product lines to drive product adoption and product-market fit across EMEA. You will work with leadership, product, and account teams to engage customers and develop approaches for migrating their enterprise data warehouses (EDW) to the Databricks Intelligence Platform. You will be paired with Product Specialists for Data and Governance to devise and implement strategies across key accounts, developing presentations, demos, and other assets.
What You'll Do
- Lead regional migration strategy: Collaborate with EMEA GTM leadership and account teams to design and drive the technical GTM and adoption strategy for large-scale EDW migrations.
- Develop programmatic and scalable migration processes: Architect and refine programmatic assets and technical guides for field teams and partners.
- Build and integrate assessment tooling: Help maintain, enhance, and direct development of automated assessment tools.
- Drive tier-3 technical championship: Act as the ultimate technical escalation point for complex or stalled migrations in must-win accounts across EMEA.
- Enable and scale regional teams: Mentor and coach the EMEA community of Solutions Architects (SAs) and Specialist SAs (SSAs).
- Bridge field insights and product R&D: Serve as a primary technical feedback loop to Product Management and Engineering.
- Establish industry thought leadership: Author whitepapers, publish technical blogs, and deliver presentations at public forums like the Data + AI Summit.
What We Look For
- 8+ years of customer-facing experience in pre-sales, architect, or consulting roles, influencing technical executives (CIOs, CISOs, DBAs, Platform Leads).
- Understanding of legacy EDW systems (e.g., Teradata, Netezza, Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, Exadata) and architectures for transitioning workloads to the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
- Mastery of migration scope and progression from EDW to full Data Intelligence Platform capabilities.
- Demonstrated competence in Lakehouse architecture, including hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Python, and SQL.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Public cloud architecting: hands-on experience designing and implementing big data architectures in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience collaborating with Professional Services and Global Systems Integrators to standardize migration delivery methodologies.
