Senior Staff Software Engineer

As a Sr Staff Software Engineer on the Entity Management team, you will lead the technical development of a new product that removes compliance burdens for entrepreneurs. You will execute key technical initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor engineers.

The Entity Management team builds and maintains tools that help small businesses manage the entire lifecycle of their legal and compliance needs, including incorporation, ongoing compliance, account monitoring, and dissolution. The mission is to simplify and automate these complex processes.

• Execute on the technical roadmap for the new product, ensuring alignment with business goals and Entity Management objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Design, Customer Support, and Marketing.
• Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Develop the team's software development process and technical approaches.
• Drive implementation of new functionality in legacy systems to support the new customer base.
• Serve as a technical leader, designing solutions and overcoming technical challenges.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including leading greenfield product development.
• Ruby on Rails, Typescript, and React experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Strong mentorship skills.
• Experience acting as a technical leader.
• Ability to develop and enhance software development processes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Cash compensation is targeted at $225,000/yr to $275,000/yr for San Francisco. Stock equity is additional. Final offers vary based on experience and expertise. All full-time employees receive competitive base pay, benefits, and equity (RSUs).

This role is based in San Francisco, CA with a hybrid work schedule. Employees based in Denver, San Francisco, or New York City are expected to work from the office approximately 2-3 days per week. Travel to Gusto's Denver office for onboarding is required.
