Backed by a recent Series C, Deepgram has processed over 50,000 years of audio.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to build and operate the hybrid infrastructure foundation for our AI/ML research and product development. You will architect, build, and run the platform spanning AWS and bare metal data centers, enabling teams to train and deploy complex models at scale. This role focuses on creating a robust, self-service environment using Kubernetes, AWS, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), and orchestrating high-demand GPU workloads with schedulers like Slurm.
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain our core computing platform using Kubernetes on AWS and on-premise.
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with Terraform.
- Design, build, and optimize AI/ML job scheduling and orchestration, integrating Slurm with Kubernetes clusters.
- Provision and maintain on-premise bare metal servers for high-performance GPU computing.
- Implement networking (CNI, service mesh) and storage (CSI, S3) solutions for hybrid environments.
- Develop observability stack (monitoring, logging, tracing) and automate operational tasks.
- Collaborate with AI researchers and ML engineers to build tools and workflows.
- Automate the lifecycle of single-tenant, managed deployments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
- Proven hands-on experience with Terraform in production.
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and operations at scale.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
- Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD) and developer tooling.
- Nice to have: Experience with Slurm, bare metal provisioning (PXE, MAAS), FinOps, Kubernetes networking (Calico, Cilium), storage (Ceph, Rook), and multi-region/hybrid cloud.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation ranges from $136K to $240K depending on tier and location, with equity and bonus offered. Deepgram offers a comprehensive benefits package.
