Software Engineer I, Backend (Collections)

Affirm is a financial technology company that provides transparent, predictable payment solutions. The Collections team, part of the Repayments area, builds a platform to maximize recovery of delinquent users by sending the right message at the right time, while ensuring high reliability. As a Software Engineer I, you will work with the team to develop and implement recovery strategies, manage loans through delinquency, and build robust collections solutions. You will collaborate with product managers, risk teams, and other engineers, and participate in an on-call rotation.

• Work on tasks that contribute to the team's projects and goals.
• Collaborate proactively with team and stakeholders, creating visibility on risks and trade-offs.
• Balance speed and quality to protect systems from downtime.

• Previous work or internship experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
• Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing code reviews.
• Strong communication skills for global collaboration.

• Base pay range: 57,000 - 87,000 EUR per year.
