Software Engineer II, Backend, (Furnishing Platform)

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer to join our Furnishing Platform team to build scalable systems and data pipelines that power consumer credit reporting. You will partner closely with Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems that deliver accurate and timely data from Affirm’s financial product portfolio to Consumer Reporting Agencies.

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts.
• Contribute to community by engaging in growth and development activities, including participation in the interview process.

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with distributed systems building blocks and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Spark.
• Ability to turn simple problems into solutions that interact with multiple software components, writing clear, well-tested, extensible code.
• Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.

• Base pay range: €73,000 - €109,000 per year (ESP).

Remote Spain. Remote-first company; most roles can be done from almost anywhere within the country of employment. Some positions may occasionally require in-person work at an Affirm office. All new hires are invited to attend an in-person onboarding experience.
