Software Engineer II, Backend, Furnishing Platform

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. We are looking for a highly motivated Software Engineer in our Furnishing Platform team to build scalable systems and data pipelines to power our consumer credit reporting. You will partner closely with our Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems. The systems you will work on are vital for delivering accurate and timely data from Affirm’s financial product portfolio to Consumer Reporting Agencies. Affirm is growing fast and we want you to enable us to scale our products to 10x and beyond through building world-class systems which enable Affirm in its mission to provide honest financial products which improve lives.

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
• Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics, participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
• Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
• Participate in an on-call rotation as a requirement.

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems and proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with building blocks of distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Spark.
• Ability to turn a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, easily understood, well-tested and extensible code.
• Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.

• Base Pay Grade: L
• Equity Grade: Spain 3
• ESP base pay range per year: €73,000 - €109,000
