Software Engineer

Twilio is hiring a Software Engineer (L2) to join the Twilio Sendgrid team, working hands-on to create, deploy, and manage highly available, very large scale distributed systems. The systems processed 12 billion emails on Black Friday 2026 and continue to scale. You will contribute to redesigning backend services for scalability, strengthening service security, delivering solutions that enhance the customer journey, and developing new product offerings that provide actionable insights into the health of customers' email programs.

• Ship reliable features at scale, partnering with engineering and product to understand customer challenges and craft solutions.
• Perform thorough and thoughtful code reviews to maintain high code quality.
• Identify key system metrics and ensure adequate monitoring coverage for new and existing data storage and analytical services.
• Be creative, take initiative, and solve challenging problems.

• 3+ years of experience in your craft with demonstrated skill progression.
• Proficiency with Go or similar typed programming languages (Java, C#, C++, Rust, etc).
• Ability to implement reliable, maintainable components.
• Automation-minded; experience automating processes and administrative tasks.
• Highly effective collaborator; self-driven with complete ownership of tasks.
• Degree in Computer Science or similar experience.

• Experience with Docker, and/or Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies.
• Experience with Terraform or similar configuration management tools.
• Experience with MySQL or AWS Aurora database systems.
• Experience with Kafka or other distributed logging systems.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure providers (GCP, Azure).

Estimated pay ranges: $116,960 - $146,200 (CO, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, VT, or DC); $123,760 - $154,700 (NY, NJ, WA, or CA outside SF Bay Area); $137,520 - $171,900 (SF Bay Area). Eligible for Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. Benefits include health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, and paid parental leave.

Remote in the USA, but not eligible to be hired in CA, NY, WA, PA, CT. Occasional travel may be required for project or team in-person meetings.
