About the Role
Reddit is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the DevPlatform team. In this role, you will build and maintain the backend for Reddit's developer platform, focusing on high availability, reliability, and low latency at internet scale. You will drive the Storage as a service strategy, build the technical foundation for future features, and contribute to the entire development cycle from design to launch.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the developer platform.
- Build new features for external developers, such as SQL database as a service.
- Contribute to technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
- Review code and design docs, and give feedback on product specs and mocks.
- Contribute meaningfully to team strategy.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of industry experience in backend, infrastructure, developer tools, or app platforms.
- Technical leader in executing large-scale projects and day-to-day troubleshooting.
- Experience with Go, TypeScript, Redis, distributed SQL, and Kubernetes.
- Mentoring and coaching other engineers, leading by example with strong software engineering best practices.
- Passion for scalable, well-designed software; entrepreneurial spirit; excellent communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $217,000—$303,000 USD. Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
