Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure - Marimo

CoreWeave is a specialized cloud provider delivering massive-scale GPU compute for AI, machine learning, and other compute-intensive workloads. The Marimo team builds an open-source reactive Python notebook environment and a cloud-hosted service called molab. As a Staff Engineer on the molab team, you will co-design and implement the backend architecture, focusing on high availability, low latency, stability, and fraud/abuse prevention. You will design molab to run on CoreWeave's Kubernetes-based clusters, integrate with CoreWeave object storage, and optimize GPU utilization.

• Co-design and implement the backend architecture of molab, solving for high availability, low latency (rapid kernel spin-up/down and low-latency frontend-backend communication), stability, and fraud/abuse.
• Design molab to run on CoreWeave's specialized Kubernetes-based clusters and integrate with CoreWeave object storage.
• Solve for keeping GPU utilization high.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong fundamentals that are language agnostic.
• Expertise in computer systems, including parallel computing (threading, multiprocessing), concurrency (asynchronous programming), networking/inter-process communication.
• Experience with containerization, container orchestration (Kubernetes), scheduling, networked filesystems, resource allocation, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant systems.
• Strong communication skills.
• Preferred: Proficiency with Python and Python packaging; basic experience with the Python stack for AI/ML; empathy for practitioners in AI, ML, data engineering, NLP; experience with GPU resource allocation and sharing.

Base salary range: $188,000–$275,000.
