Staff Software Engineer - Platform

Role: Staff Software Engineer on the Platform team, responsible for foundational systems such as Alerts, Workflows, Notifications, Reports, User Management, Roles and Permissions, Billing, and Invoice. This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US.

• Drive technology choices, implement services, and establish architectural patterns with broad impact.
• Architect, design, and develop software that enables Samsara to operate at scale.
• Lead teams in delivering products and capabilities that contribute to revenue.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and product teams to build products, tools, and solutions.
• Act as a multiplier for the team, elevating the impact of every member.
• Represent Samsara in external-facing forums.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions, with at least 2 years in an architect or leadership role.
• Stellar programming/coding fundamentals.
• 4+ years building large-scale distributed systems.
• 4+ years leading cross-organization projects.

• Mastery in data modeling and full-stack application architecture at massive scale.
• Programming mastery in Go, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C/C++, or similar languages.
• Expertise in large-scale enterprise software applications.
• Expert-level knowledge of at-scale stream processing decision engines.

Compensation: Annual base salary range of $162,400—$290,000 USD, plus an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance.
