Staff Software Engineer, Streaming Infrastructure

Airbnb is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Online Data organization, specifically the Ingestion team within the Online Database Infrastructure org. The team builds and operates managed platforms for exporting data from Airbnb's online databases for asynchronous processing, including near real-time change data capture (CDC) and periodic snapshots.

• Lead a team of developers to deliver multi-quarter cross-functional projects.
• Act as the resident expert on the online data exports platform, guiding internal product teams.
• Stay current with data ingestion systems and evaluate new technologies to improve architecture.
• Influence the team's and organization's long-term roadmap and strategy.
• Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and technical standards.
• Raise operational standards by proactively identifying, debugging, and fixing operational issues.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for the Ingestion team.

• 9+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams, setting technical direction, and growing engineers.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, multi-tenant storage, and infrastructure.
• Experience architecting and scaling high-performance, business-critical systems.
• Ability to collaborate and influence across teams, building alignment on technical strategy.
• Strong judgment on technical trade-offs, balancing short-term delivery with long-term maintainability.
• Experience onboarding to and navigating a broad and complex codebase, and enabling others to do the same.

Base pay range: $204,000—$255,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; see the exclusion list.
