Role Overview

As a Staff User Researcher on the Consumer team, you will shape the foundational understanding of how and why people change their food behaviors. You'll lead research from generative discovery to iterative product testing, partnering with product, design, data science, marketing, and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Independently own and drive the research roadmap for the consumer innovation workstream.
  • Lead generative, foundational research on food, nutrition, and health behaviors.
  • Apply behavioral science frameworks to frame research questions.
  • Execute mixed-methods research: qualitative (interviews, ethnography, diary studies) and quantitative (surveys, behavioral data analysis, concept testing).
  • Translate research into compelling narratives for stakeholders.
  • Maintain living knowledge bases, personas, and journey maps.
  • Mentor junior researchers and advocate for the customer.

Qualifications

Minimum: 8+ years conducting UX or consumer research, background in behavioral psychology or economics, expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods, proven ability to lead foundational research, exceptional storytelling, experience with data science teams, track record of influencing product roadmaps, fluency with AI tools. Advanced degree preferred.

Preferred: Experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, grocery, CPG, or subscription products; research on high-visibility consumer surfaces; background in onboarding/activation/retention; familiarity with AI-powered, agentic, or conversational products; ability to influence without authority; familiarity with meal planning and nutrition.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range for Canadian candidates: CAN$189,000—$199,500 CAD. Eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants.
