Tech Lead, Agent Framework - Observability

Elastic, the Search AI Company, provides the Elastic Search AI Platform used by more than 50% of the Fortune 500 for search, security, and observability.

Tech Lead for the Agent Framework team within Elastic's Streams program, owning architecture and technical direction for the agent layer.

• Design scalable architecture for the agent layer.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies.
• Conduct architecture reviews and lead discussions.
• Provide technical guidance and code reviews.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and product management.
• Identify risks and adjust plans.

• Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on agent/daemon/systems-level software at scale.
• Deep knowledge of observability data collection (metrics, logs, traces) and protocols (OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, syslog).
• Solid background in Go.
• Experience with management/control planes, especially protocol-driven approaches like OpAMP.
• Track record of leading large, multi-team initiatives.
• Excellent written communication for design docs and ADRs.

• Experience with Elastic Agent, Fleet, Beats, or OpenTelemetry collector internals.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry collector configuration, OTLP transport, or upstream contribution.
• Cross-platform testing across Linux, Windows, macOS, containers, Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of pipeline execution models (Streamlang, Logstash, Fluent).
• Infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Open source contributions in observability/agent ecosystem.
• Comfort working async-first across a globally distributed team.

Base salary range: €80,400—€127,200 EUR. No variable compensation component.
