Google just announced a major shakeup of its top AI leadership

Google has reshuffled the top of its AI command structure, and the move is less about titles than about who answers to whom.

Demis Hassabis, the public face of Google DeepMind, is stepping out of the day-to-day operational seat. He becomes chair of DeepMind and chief scientist at Alphabet, while Koray Kavukcuoglu, the unit's former CTO, takes over as senior vice president of DeepMind and reports directly to Sundar Pichai.
