We are seeking an experienced Compliance, Employment & Litigation Counsel to join our Legal team. This role will focus on global compliance, employment counseling, and employment-related legal support across the United States and potentially internationally, as well as assisting with a variety of dispute and litigation matters. You will partner closely with our People Team and business partners to provide practical, business-focused employment advice on a broad range of workforce issues. You will also work alongside other members of the Legal team to manage business disputes, including contract disputes, vendor disputes, bankruptcy matters, intellectual property issues, privacy-related claims, and other litigation matters as they arise.
This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys combining compliance and day-to-day employment counseling with litigation and dispute management in a fast-paced technology company. The successful candidate will have compliance, employment law, and litigation experience, and the ability to independently manage legal matters while collaborating effectively across functions. This position will report to the VP, Compliance, Employment & Litigation.
What You'll Do
- Compliance: Develop policies and procedures related to ethics, export control, sanctions, anti-corruption, and conflicts of interest. Conduct internal investigations, oversee compliance hotline monitoring, and manage compliance training programs.
- Employment Counseling: Advise the People Team and business partners on employment law matters across the employee lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, accommodations, leaves, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Support organizational changes, restructurings, and reductions in force. Draft and update employment-related agreements and policies. Monitor legal developments and advise on emerging employment law requirements, including AI-related developments.
- Litigation & Dispute Management: Manage employment-related claims, administrative charges, demand letters, arbitrations, and litigation. Support disputes involving commercial contracts, vendors, intellectual property, privacy, bankruptcy, and other legal issues. Conduct factual investigations, manage outside counsel, and develop discovery processes.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with all business teams, deliver practical legal advice, contribute to special projects, and help build scalable legal processes.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law.
- 4-7 years of experience, including significant compliance, employment, and/or litigation experience.
- Strong judgment, problem-solving mentality, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work across time zones; some travel may be required.
- Preferred: prior in-house experience, experience with high-growth tech/SaaS companies, international employment matters, commercial disputes, and complex e-discovery.
Compensation
Pay Range: $175,214—$210,265.50 USD
