Data Scientist, Safeguards

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. As an early member of the Safeguards Data Science and Analytics team, you will build and scale a data-driven culture, working closely with product, engineering, policy, and enforcement to define and measure key success metrics, analyze user behavior, and develop experimentation practices.

• Deep dive into user behavior data to provide insights on safety concerns
• Define core metrics, set goals, build forecasts, monitor performance, and develop actionable reporting
• Identify and size opportunities to improve the product, influencing roadmap
• Design controlled experiments, analyze results, and make recommendations
• Establish foundational data best practices and make data accessible across the company

• Expertise in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools
• Bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, curiosity, and strong communication skills
• Passion for the mission of building helpful, honest, and harmless AI

• 8+ years of experience in data science or analytics, preferably in infrastructure or operations
• 3+ years deeply embedding in Product teams
• Experience with safety, anti-abuse, or integrity problems

Annual salary: $285,000—$380,000 USD

Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Hybrid policy: all staff in office at least 25% of the time. Visa sponsorship available.
