Overview
Databricks is seeking a seasoned compensation leader to serve as Director, Compensation, reporting to the VP, Total Rewards. The role leads and develops a team of client compensation partners and builds best-in-class compensation programs to attract, retain, and motivate talent across Databricks.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three to four client compensation partners (25%)
- Partner with the VP Rewards to drive enterprise-wide compensation strategy, design, and program delivery (30%)
- Collaborate with People team members, business leaders, and cross-functional partners on complex compensation matters (25%)
- Drive operational excellence, tooling, and continuous improvement of compensation infrastructure (20%)
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive compensation experience, with at least 3 years managing a team of compensation professionals
- Deep experience in the tech sector, preferably at a high-growth private or pre-IPO company
- Deep mastery of job architecture, compensation frameworks, market pricing, pay cycles, global compensation practices, and pay-for-performance design
- Advanced capabilities in gSheets and Excel; proficiency in Tableau, SQL, Python, or AI-assisted analytics a strong plus
- Expert-level knowledge of tech compensation practices, particularly equity strategy
- Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise-wide compensation programs across a global, distributed workforce
- Experience as a senior business partner to founders, executives, and People leadership
Compensation
Pay ranges by zone: Zone 1 $218,100—$299,850 USD; Zone 2 $196,200—$269,850 USD; Zone 3 $185,400—$254,850 USD; Zone 4 $174,500—$239,900 USD. Total package may include annual performance bonus and equity.
