Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager on the Growth Expansion team, you will build and oversee a team of software engineers as a player-coach, balancing hands-on coding with team leadership. The team focuses on driving revenue from the existing customer base by delivering products, features, and upgrade paths within the product, setting up signals for customer changes, and building upsell and cross-sell motions.

• Work with Engineers, Design, and Product Managers to prioritize, schedule, and execute projects.
• Partner with Product to define and execute the team’s long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap.
• Communicate and coordinate with other teams to understand requirements and improvement opportunities.
• Mentor engineers to grow their technical skills and foster a culture of technical excellence.
• Provide technical and non-technical guidance to direct reports.
• Attract, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of engineers.
• Drive sound technical decision-making and lead technical conversations across Justworks.
• Instill empathy for internal stakeholders to create better user experiences.

• 7+ years of experience as a software engineer working on production web applications.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience managing a team of engineers.
• Demonstrable experience prioritizing, crafting, and achieving plans.
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• High levels of empathy and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of core web development technologies, including data structures, data stores, algorithms, distributed systems, and common patterns.

The base wage range for this position based in the New York City Office is targeted at $212,000.00 to $274,000.00 per year. Actual compensation is based on factors such as skill set, experience, and work location. Justworks offers a Total Rewards package including benefits, wellness programs, and company retreats.
