Engineering Manager

Cloudflare Radar helps people understand what is happening on the Internet. The team builds the systems behind radar.cloudflare.com, Cloudflare Speed Test, our Internet measurement and analytics platforms, and the data pipelines that turn signals from Cloudflare’s global network into useful insights.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Radar & Insights engineering team. You will lead a team of approximately eight engineers responsible for some of Cloudflare’s most visible Internet measurement products and the systems behind them. This is a management role for someone who is deeply technically credible. You will not be expected to write most of the code, but you should be able to understand the systems your team operates, challenge architectural decisions, ask the right questions when something is going wrong, and step into a technical problem when the situation calls for it. This role may require flexibility to be on-call outside of standard working hours to address technical issues as needed.

• Manage, coach and grow a team of engineers working across Cloudflare Radar, Speed Test and Internet measurement, analytics and large-scale data systems.
• Own the team’s execution: establish clear priorities, create predictable delivery, and give engineers the context and autonomy to own meaningful areas of the product.
• Improve the quality, reliability and usability of the data and insights surfaced through Radar and the systems that produce them.
• Help evolve Cloudflare Speed Test and the measurement capabilities behind it.
• Partner closely with Product Management to shape the roadmap and turn broad opportunities into clear engineering problems.
• Own the operational health of the team’s systems, including observability, incident response, data quality and long-term reliability.
• Develop technical leaders within the team and create space for engineers to lead architecture and implementation.

• You have led and developed high-performing engineering team(s) and can point to what that team shipped and how the people on it grew.
• You are technically credible with experienced engineers. You can review a design, understand the trade-offs in a distributed system or data platform, and recognize when a technical problem needs deeper investigation.
• You care deeply about reliability and quality, particularly when the output of a system is data that people use to understand the Internet.
• You have strong product judgment and enjoy working with Product Management to decide what is worth building, what needs improvement and what should not be built at all.
• You communicate clearly, give direct feedback, and can explain complex technical decisions to both engineers and non-engineers.

• Experience leading engineering teams responsible for production software and services.
• Strong technical grounding in distributed systems, data-intensive systems, Internet infrastructure or adjacent areas.
• Experience operating systems where correctness, reliability and data quality matter as much as feature delivery.
• Experience building or operating large-scale data pipelines, analytics platforms, telemetry systems or measurement infrastructure.
• A track record of hiring, developing and retaining strong engineers.
• Experience partnering closely with Product Management to shape and execute a roadmap.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

• Familiarity with Internet protocols and infrastructure such as HTTP, DNS, BGP, routing or network measurement.
• Experience working with very large telemetry or Internet-scale datasets.
• Experience building analytics or insights products that turn complex underlying data into something useful for a broad audience.
• Familiarity with Cloudflare Radar, Internet measurement research, or the broader ecosystem of tools used to understand Internet performance, availability and security.

For Portugal based hires: Estimated annual salary of €74,000 - €111,000. The final offer will be inclusive of time exemption, in alignment with the applicable law and collective bargaining agreements.

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
