About the role
Anthropic's Connectivity team makes Claude the most connected AI, defining how agents access external systems safely. The team owns the MCP proxy, OAuth and token management, and contributes to the MCP spec. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to lead a team of Connectivity engineers in London, working closely with San Francisco.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a team building connectivity infrastructure, from MCP proxy to OAuth and token management.
- Hire, coach, and mentor engineers; maintain a high-performing team.
- Partner with leadership in San Francisco to define roadmap.
- Drive cross-team alignment across claude.ai, Claude Code, Cowork, and the API.
- Establish engineering best practices, including on-call and incident response.
Minimum qualifications
- Experience managing software engineering teams.
- Technical background in backend or platform engineering.
- Experience operating production distributed systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated success building culture of belonging.
Preferred qualifications
- 3+ years as an engineering manager.
- Familiarity with MCP or open standards.
- Experience with distributed teams.
- Familiarity with OAuth, token management, identity systems.
- Experience with API gateways, proxies, multi-tenant platforms.
- Experience with enterprise customers, admin controls, governance.
- Experience with AI/ML products or agentic systems.
Compensation
Annual salary: £255,000—£325,000 GBP.
Logistics
Hybrid: at least 25% in office. Visa sponsorship available.
