About the role
Chime's Deals & Offers team builds member-facing deals, cashback, and merchant-offer experiences, plus the offers platform. The team also owns Chime Wireless, a 0-to-1 vertical product. This is a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) role, managing a team of 4-5 engineers while staying hands-on in code.
Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering team
- Stay hands-on: write and ship code on high-leverage projects
- Review pull requests and lead design reviews
- Own technical direction for deals and offers
- Set team objectives and hold a high bar for execution
- Drive architecture and technical decisions
- Ensure quality, performance, and operational health
- Manage partner and merchant integrations
- Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics
Qualifications
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Current hands-on coding ability
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor)
- Strong technical foundation
- Experience shipping consumer product features and running experimentation
- Experience with service-oriented architectures and backend platforms
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React Native, AWS, distributed systems is a plus
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with third-party integrations is a plus
Compensation
Base salary $199,000 - $275,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
