About the role: As Engineering Manager for Threat Detection, you will lead a high-performing team that powers Datadog's detection program. The team combines direct detection expertise, platform engineering, and applied AI to ship detections at scale. You will partner with Security Incident & Response Team (SIRT), Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), AI Engineering teams, and the broader Security organization.
Responsibilities: Lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of Datadog Security's shift to AI-accelerated detection and response. Drive development of high-fidelity detections, build and mentor a team, partner with sister teams, define and track program metrics, and evangelize the mission.
Qualifications: Experience in security operations, detection engineering, or incident response. Strong understanding of threat actor techniques and detection engineering lifecycle. Technically credible with ability to review detection logic, code (e.g., Python), and architecture. Experience building automation for security operations. Prior experience at a SaaS or cloud infrastructure company. Experienced people leader.
Nice to haves: Led threat hunts, translated security research into engineered systems, designed detection platforms, built observability for detection systems, shipped agentic or ML systems, designed safety for autonomous AI.

Compensation: The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role is $192,000—$240,000 USD.
